Hello! Welcome to Not Your Average Gun Blog, a blog, that as one might expect from the name, is a gun blog, my intention with this blog is to help you learn about guns! Safety, How They Work, and random tidbits of information. I, personally, like to think I know a decent amount, so with every post, I will have 2 Topics, these topics may be things like “SIG-Sauer: The good, the bad, and the ugly” or something like that. 1 side note: I may not be consistent within the first few weeks, I get easily distracted, mostly by gun content, but I will try to post weekly. Either way, let’s get right into the important stuff. the first topic for today:

What this blog is and why it exists!

So, like I mentioned before, this is a gun blog, the thing is, I didn’t want this to be a normal gun blog, ran by some 52 year old MAGA Republican hoo-ha named Billy Wilson or something like that (sorry if your name is actually Billy Wilson, I tried to come up with a name that sounds like it belongs to a Republican), this blog, is run by someone Left-Leaning, and young, and is FOR younger people on the left, now just because I said I am left leaning doesn’t mean I’m Anti-Gun, I’m quite the opposite. Now, let’s get onto why this exists! I made this blog for a few reasons, 1. there’s not enough info about guns for people like me, and I wanted to fix that, because I’m sick of hearing people say dumb stuff like “AN aR-15 caN CReaTe a 10 foOt wiDE eNtRY-WOUnD” so I am here to help fix that, 2. I like talking about guns, they are my special interest, and they have been for a long time! 3. most gun info I find is MAGA type information, stuff like “GoD GaVE TRUmp tO uS so WE cAn OWn GUnS!” so I wanted to make it to where not everything is right-leaning 4. every time I see some left leaning gun info site or whatever, it tends to be Anti-Gun, which sucks, so I wanna fix that. With all that out of the way, we can finally talk about other stuff, like guns, topic 2:

Safety: Correct use, or coffin.

I know the name sounds dark, and it is, but it’s honest, one single screw-up can lead to death. This has been shown time and time again, often when people try to clean their gun(s), they accidentally shoot someone, and they die, it’s sad, but true, so let me help you not have that happen. Let’s start with safety when holding a gun.

1.) When holding a gun, and you are not ready to shoot, always have the safety ON. This prevents accidental discharges, unless the safety fails.

2.) Until you are ready to shoot, always keep your finger off the trigger. This also decreases the likelihood of an accidental discharge.

3.) Before you are ready to shoot, always make sure the gun is unloaded, this can be checked by first removing the magazine, then pulling the bolt back all the way. when checking the chamber, or just in general, NEVER LOOK DOWN THE BARREL, this can get you shot in the eye.

4.) Always have your barrel in a safe direction until you are ready to shoot, when ready to shoot, point the barrel at the target, generally, down is a safe direction.

5.) Before shooting, know your target and what’s behind it. This helps you not shoot things you don’t want to hit

Generally those rules will help you not have accidents.

Cleaning a gun is generally the same, always unload it before cleaning, keep the barrel in a safe direction, always keep your finger off the trigger, then you can disassemble your gun(s).
